Our Mission

Connecting Our
Community to Jesus

Through Faith and Fellowship

At Morristown Methodist Church, our vision is simple yet powerful: to connect our community to Jesus. Guided by the Holy Spirit, this vision shapes everything we do, fostering unity, outreach, and a deeper life of faith.
We are committed to creating a welcoming environment where people can grow in their relationship with Christ. Through worship, fellowship, and service, we seek to meet both the spiritual and practical needs of our neighbors.
Each Sunday, we gather for meaningful worship and warm fellowship—starting with coffee and donuts and continuing with Christ-centered teaching and praise. Together, we are building a vibrant, faith-filled community rooted in love, service, and the hope of the Gospel.

Our Story

A Journey of Faith in Morristown

Morristown Methodist Church in Morristown, Indiana, has a long and significant history in Shelby County:
Has been serving the community since 1828.
The present Morristown church building was constructed in 1885. W.W. Woodyard served as the architect and lived in the community until his death in 1908.
As of 1886, the congregation numbered ninety-five members. Over time, it grew to two hundred members and was described as being in a flourishing state.
The construction cost of the current church building was $4,600, which was substantial for that era.
W.A. Bodine, a longtime merchant in Morristown, was a generous supporter and an active member of the church.
Early records reference the formation of the Morrison circuit at an early date, with Asbury church being the first organized on this circuit, shortly after land was surveyed in 1822. A log cabin church was the first structure, followed by a frame building in 1839, at a cost of $400.
The history of Morristown Methodist Church is intertwined with the growth of Methodism in Indiana, marked by the activities of circuit riders, camp meetings, and the establishment of new societies and buildings throughout the region during the 1800s.
